Goal Singapore Football Awards

Are you familiar with Goal Singapore Football Awards? This is an award giving ceremony that seeks to recognize the outstanding players in the field of football. The good thing about this award is that the public is given the chance to vote for the players that show exemplary attitude. The votes will form part of determining the champion. On November 17, 2013, the Goal Singapore Football Awards commenced.

The awards will present five categories to include Women’s Footballer of the Year, Player of the Year, Coach of the Year, Foreign Player of the Year and Young Player of the Year. To make sure  that the winners are chosen based on their merit, the Goal Singapore Football Awards committee established an exceptional voting system. Here’s a look:

Round 1

Round 1 started from November 17 to December 1, 2013. The person with the least votes will be eliminated during the first round. For the Readers’ Choice victors, they will automatically enter round 3.

Round 2

After the elimination, there will remain five contenders coming from the different categories. The panel will vote on their preferred nominee. The person with the least votes will be eliminated during the second round. Only four contenders will remain from every category.

Round 3

Round 3 is the final round where the remaining four contenders as well as the Readers’ Choice victor will be judged. The panel of judges will now vote according to the merits. In the case of the Readers’ Choice victor, he/she gets 2 points automatically. The person with the highest votes will get the award.

The recipients of the awards will be announced on December 8, 2013. Watch out!
