Countries With the Highest Well-Being Report  

 

There is a recently published study by Gallup-Heathways State of Global Well-Being called “2014 Country Well-Being Rankings”. The rankings or index gauges the well-being of people across five elements like purpose, financial, social, physical and community. Apart from the five elements, the study also included the responses of individual which are categorized as “suffering, thriving or struggling”.

The study was concluded based on the ratio of the population that is thriving in at least three elements of well-being. If we want to know the list of the countries with the highest well-being, here’s a peek:

  • Panama: For two consecutive years, Panama came out on top of the highest well-being report. The country has gathered the highest overall score. 53% of the residents there are thriving in three or more elements.
  • Costa Rica: Costa Rica has the highest well-being next to Panama with 47.6% of the residents thriving in three or more elements.
  • Puerto Rico: Puerto Rico is considered the third country highest well-being with 45.8% of the residents thriving in three or more elements.

  • Switzerland: Switzerland has at least 39.4% of residents thriving in three or more elements.
  • Belize: Belize has at least 38.9% of residents thriving in three or more elements.
  • Chile: Chile has at least 38.7% of residents thriving in three or more elements.
  • Denmark: Denmark has at least 37% of residents thriving in three or more elements.
  • Guatemala: Guatemala has at least 36.3% of residents thriving in three or more elements.
  • Austria: Austria is considered the ninth country with the highest well-being with 35.6% of the residents thriving in three or more elements.
  • Mexico: Mexico has at least 35.6% of residents thriving in three or more elements like Austria.
  • Uruguay: Uruguay has at least 35.5% of residents thriving in three or more elements.
  • Argentina: Argentina has at least 33.6% of residents thriving in three or more elements.
  • Colombia: Colombia has at least 33.4% of residents thriving in three or more elements.
  • Kyrgyzstan: Kyrgyzstan has at least 33.4% of residents thriving in three or more elements.
  • Brazil: Brazil has at least 33.4% of residents thriving in three or more elements.
  • Norway: Norway has at least 32.0% of residents thriving in three or more elements.
  • Netherlands: Netherlands has at least 31.9% of residents thriving in three or more elements.

We will notice that the top three included in the list are mostly Latin American countries. Also included in the list are El Salvador, Turkmenistan, Myanmar, United Arab Emirates, Israel, United States, Canada and Luxembourg.

Singapore was not considered in the top 25 this time but it doesn’t mean we have the least well-being. Singaporeans are happy in their own ways and that is what matters.
